My “Clean Make-up” Bag
I like my products how I like my people: non-toxic.
It has taken me months but I have finally completed and transitioned all of my make-up over to clean brands and products. It took a lot of research and trial to curate the products I now own and I am still adding and testing new products to review. When transitioning to green make-up, the goal of mine was to have all the essential products that I use for a full face. I definitely don’ use everything everyday. But I now have everything I need. If you’re interested in what’s in my make-up bag and why, then please keep reading. You’ll probably find a product that tempts you too.
We know we know: it’s all about the base. This includes foundation, concealer and primer if you’re that way inclined. I have to say, I don’t bother with primer but the one I would buy is the Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Illuminating Primer if I did as that’s the one I’ve heard great things about. I’m currently mixing between foundations and concealer to get a base depending on my skin for the day.
Kjaer Weiss Cream Foundation in shade Lightness: This is like a stick foundation but in a pan. It requires warming up in the fingers before application as it does set quite solid. It is so easy to apply with fingers and covers so well. It can be light coverage is sheered out but is very buildable to full coverage. I like this for less make-up days as it looks like skin on the face. It also has great skin benefits too.
Jane Iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream in shade BB3: I have to say, BB3 is too dark for me and I should’ve got BB1. However, I like to mix this with a lighter foundation as it is very full coverage. If you want a foundation to be matte powder like finish with full coverage that stays all day then this is your guy.
Ere Perez Oat Milk Foundation in shade Latte: This is a medium coverage foundation which ca be sheered out. It is very liquidy and definitely has that liquid foundation texture. This product leaves a natural glow and is very nice. This would probably be my favourite if I wasn’t acne prone and looking for more coverage. Also, the shade Latte is very light.
Ere Perez Arnica Concealer in shade Latte: I really like this concealer. It’s a great shade match for me and covers blemishes well without looking cakey. It works on the face and under the eyes and sits well over other products and on it’s own. Full review here.
Lily Lolo Mineral Finishing Powder in Flawless Matte: This is a very simple translucent powder. I like it because it isn’t cakey on the skin at all. It is very lightweight and works to set the make-up without completely mattifying the glow. Also doesn’t break me out.
RMS Beauty Butiti Bronzer: This is a very simple cream bronzer that is warm toned without any over powering glitter. It adds a very nice glow to my pale skin and is easy to apply with fingers or a brush. Read my full review here.
Lily Lolo Pressed Mineral Powder in Miami Beach: I love this bronzer. It’s a very nice well pigmented war toned powder bronzer. It adds a nice bronze colour and glow without loads of shimmer. It lasts on the skin too. Great for pale or darker skin tones looking for some bronze.
Blush & Highlight
RMS Beauty Signature Set Pop Collection: This is an amazing multi purpose product that lasts for ages. It has the Buriti Bronzer, 2 blush colours and a highlighter. All products are cream and it reduces the need for individual products in my make-up bag. You can read my full review here.
Clean products have come such a long way in terms of formulation and performance. These products I now use perform better than some conventional brands I used to use. I love how pigmented the eye shadows are by Ere Perez. I also like to use bronzer as eye shadow because these products are mostly multi-use. Also, the Inika mascara mentioned below is the best mascara I’ve used ever.
Ere Perez Chamomile Eye Palette in Beautiful: This eye shadow paletter is great. It has all the shades that I need. I love the cool toned colour as I use it in my eye crease. I like to also use the powder bronzer by Lily Lolo on my eyes for a warm toned colour. I like using the dark brown matte shade as powder on my brows and the black ca be mixed with water for an eye liner look.
Inika Vegan Long Lash Mascara in Black: This is the best mascara I’ve ever used. It is so lengthening and really separates the lashes without being heavy. It isn’t too wet or too dry and dries nicely on the lashes. Highly recommend.
Pacifica Dream Big Lash Extending Mascara in Black: This isn’t the best mascara as it is very dry. But I like it for adding more volume when I use the Inika mascara.
Lavera Brown Styling Gel in Hazel Blonde: This was the only clean brown gel I could find when I was looking for one a few months age. There are a few more around now but this is a great affordable option. The brush makes it easy for precision and the colour is nice. It also adds hold to the lashes without looking solid.
I love a neutral everyday lip colour as a staple in my make-up bag so that’s what I decided to start with. I was so happy with how easy it was to find my trio of perfect lip products. From here I can now add in different coloured lipsticks and lip liners. There are definitely more Kosas lipsticks that I want to try,
Ere Perez Sesame Oil Lip Liner in Naughty: This is a perfect cool toned neutral lip liner colour. It can be used under many lip colours but it is cool toned so I only like a small amount. The pencil has a nice texture as isn’t too soft or smudgy.
Lily Lolo Natural Lip Pencil in Soft Nude: This is a warm toned nude similar to MAC Spice. The texture is softer than the Ere Perez but is a nice affordable option.
Kosas Weightless Lip Colour in Rosewater: I love this colour. It’s a neutral dusky pink colour that suits many skin tones. A popular colour by the brand. The formula is moisturising and weightless and colour lasts a long time.
Vapour Elixir Plumping Lip Gloss in Beguile: I really like this as it adds a nice pink colour to the lips but it isn’t plumping in my opinion. Just a nice coloured gloss.
