Essential oil of lavender helps to protect the hair and combat the natural drying effects of sea salt.
Beach waves have been all the rage for a couple of years now. With the rise of the long-bob around 2017 came a crazy of beachy textured hair styles. Since I’ve had short hair for the past couple of years, I’m no stranger to attempting the beachy look many times. I have to say, I do love the hair style. However, as someone who is”low maintenance” AKA lazy with hair, I don’t have the patience to use many tools to style my hair everyday. I was hoping this products could be a single use products that I could use on damp hair and walk out the door with. And I do like the result this products creates first off, however, I do have some qualms. But is any hair product 100% perfect?!
This product is super natural! It has 3 ingredients: water, salt and lavender essential oil. The lavender oil creates a very natural scent. It isn’t heavlt scented like many hair products so it’s good for people with a sensitive nose and sensitive skin. I’ve noticed with some hair products that my skin breaks out in the areas the hair touches but not with this product. The packaging is lovely too. It sprays easily and the dark colour of the plastic keeps the product fresh for longer.
Once sprayed, this product takes a few minutes to dry. Once dried it leaves a very subtle beach texture. It isn’t sticky which is great. However, I do find that this product isn’t the best on my hair. My hair is very thick and I think this would be better on thinner hair textures. I have to use A LOT of this for the desired look that I want. It also dries the hair out slightly due to the salt which is expected to be honest. I would say all those things are personal preferences but the things that bothers me the most about this products is the flaky fall out. When using, I noticed a lot of white flakes/fall out on my shoulders from how the salt spray flaked off which isn’t ideal. This product is definitely better for lighter hair colours due to this. Finally, it took away the shine from my hair which made me feel like my hair looked quite dull.
Overall, this product is amazing in terms of ingredients. I think if you’re a fan of super natural products and natural hair styles this could be for you. However, for me I don’t think I would re-purchase.
