By now you have probably realised that I only post reviews on products that I genuinely like so you shouldn’t be surprised when I say I love this product. I have acne prone skin and I’m on my natural acne healing journey which, as well as my internal health, means taking care of my skin carefully too. I was dealing with some serious congestion around my nose and top of cheeks area. Whilst reading up on clay masks I realised I needed one. I needed this one. And I was very right. Keep reading for the full review.
I don’t have oily skin. I have very combination skin but I sure do suffer the black heads. I remember a time when I didn’t have any blocked pores or blemishes at all. This was after a very harsh round of Accutane. I try as hard as I can not to dwell on my skin because it really is a journey when you’re healing acne. However, black heads I do now deal with. This is something almost everyone deals with especially around the nose. I was having congestion in a lot of areas other that the nose but mainly just above the apples of my cheeks next to my nose.
When using this mask, like other clay masks, once it dries the mask has dots in the areas of oily pores where the clay starts to absorb the oils. I do sometimes find clay masks can be harsh on the skin without any real results, but with regular use of this mask my skin became free from congestion. I switched over exfoliation with acids to regular use of a clay mask and I found I got better results with my over all skin because it decongested without over stripping.
Texture & Scent
This products has a thick clay texture but is smoother than a pure bentonite clay mask. As in, it isn’t gritty and feels moisturising when applied. It dries very quickly into a clay mask that is white on the face. As mentioned above, when dried it shows dots of oil in the pore areas. It washes off very easily and doesn’t leave the face bright red and tight.
It has a nice spa smells but smells very strong like essential oils; particularly the tea tree oil which is included on the ingredients list. I find my skin likes this essential oil as it cools the skin and reduces the inflammation of the acne redness. However, if you are sensitive to essential oils then do not use this as it is very strong and not good for sensitive skin types.
I am very happy with this product. I find it does what it says it will do and has a great price. It lasts a good amount of time and is gentle enough to use a few times a week but also effective. As mentioned, my congested decreased dramatically which is what I wanted and the essential oils helped cool the skin and decrease inflammation. I would repurchase this in the future.
