Are you worried about the cost, the performance, and the accessibility of the ever evolving and potentially overwhelming natural world? You’ve come to the right place. Here you will find affordable and safe basics that make the switch easy.
Switching to Natural
It has been more than 2 years since I made the decision to switch to naturals and what a journey it has been. I know how difficult and overwhelming it can be when making the transition, especially if you’ve been using the same products for so long. There are so many brands in the authentic natural space but there is also so much green washing. Confusing right?! I feel ya.
It can be scary to know what is worth investing in, what is honest, and what will actually perform. It took me a while to discover what actually works for me so I wanted to share these products with you. I have narrowed down the best products for the best price that are accessible to most people internationally, but definitely in the UK. In this post you will find the the products it took me the longest to find and like. These include: Toothpaste, Deodorant, Shampoo, Conditioner, Bodywash and Lip balm. The products listed are the most affordable for their quality and as close to conventional products that you can get when transitioning.
I want switching to naturals to be easy for you so it’s something you come to love as much as I do. I tried and failed with many products before deciding to stick to this way of living. It’s so much safer than some of the toxic ingredients in conventional products. Keep reading for my recommendations and please let me know your thoughts below if you’ve tried any of the below.
Toothpaste: Jason Power Smile Whitening Paste £5.49
This is my favourite toothpaste by far. It has the texture and taste of a regular minty toothpaste but is without any of the nasties. It foams too which I think is really important for someone making the switch. A lot of natural toothpastes are great but are non-foaming and I find it can be too much of a change to stick to. This Jason Powersmile is the best in my opinion. It is free from fluoride, SLS and gluten and the brand has been around for years and years. It is available to buy at Whole Foods, on Ocado, and my favourite website Natuisimo.com with free delivery over £15.00.

Deodorant: Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant Stick £10.00
I have been using this deodorant for over a year now, switching it up in between uses, and it is by far my favourite. I tried a few others before this that just didn’t hold or work for me at all. This stuff is great for even the most sweaty people, like myself. They even have one without baking soda for those people with sensitive skin but I like the regular. My favourite scent is the Charocla & Magnesium, followed by the Cedarwood & Juniper, but all their scents are great.
Full disclosure: when I’m at work I reapply this twice throughout the day. That’s three applications a day. You don’t have to, but I find once I’ve been outside and get hot again, the product melts and I feel more comfortable wiping it off with tissue and reapplying it. It keeps me fresh and I don;t mind bringing this product with me. On weekends I apply it once and that’s all.
Shampoo: Jason Shampoo £6.99
I’ve tried many different shampoos and this is the best. I’m not that fussy about using luxurious products on my hair so this is my “drug store equivalent” natural option. It’s really affordable in my opinion and very accessible (linked below). I like it because unlike some natural shampoos, this one actually foams and is easy to distribute through my hair! A little goes a long way. My hair feels clean afterwards and this brand has such a great scent variety. Although it’s free from sulphates, it feels like a regular shampoo. My favourite is the Restorative Biotin Shampoo as my hair gets very dry in the London water, but the Apricot is great in summer.

Jason Conditioner £6.99
This is the matching conditioner to the shampoo mentioned above and as a duo, or mixed with other brands, they’re great. I’m not precious about conditioner similar to the shampoo, but I like my products to work. This conditioner is very thick like a mask. It smooths over hair very easily and smells great. My favourite is the Restorative Biotin Conditioner as it is extra moisturising.

Faith in Natural Body Wash £5.60
When recommending a body wash, I just wanted to show you something basic. This stuff works like a regular body wash as it is a gel that foams and comes in different scents. They just redesigned the packaging too so now it looks even better in the shower. I feel clean after using this product and I can shave with it. It is also accessible to find, is affordable and lasts for ages. You can buy it online but also in the Oxfam charity shop where it is probably cheaper, as well as in some super markets and Holland and Barrett.

Hurraw Lip Balm £4.99
I like a lot of lip balms but this is the one I’m going to recommend. It is the best I have found that is natural and VEGAN. So many lip balms have beeswax in which is fine, but I don’t find it as moisturising. This stuff is great; it’s very moisturising and doesn’t strip the lips, smells amazing, comes in different flavours, and is affordable for what it is. I love this pitta lip balm as it corresponds with my dominant dosha, but the black cherry tinted balm is great too.
