Review: Cocokind Turmeric Spot Treatment

Cocokind Turmeric Spot Treatment

“The cocokind collective TURMERIC Spot Treatment combines five certified organic ingredients for a blemish fighting and skin brightening treatment. Turmeric, ginger, and tea tree oil help fight acne-causing bacteria and balance skin tone, while sunflower oil soothes and calms the skin. Simple to use and easy to wipe off, TURMERIC is the perfect spot treatment to brighten your skin and reduce inflammation.”

I became obsessed with the products by cocokind visually online. I thought I wouldn’t be able to try them as I live in the the UK and this is a San Francisco based company, but I found this turmeric stick and other products available on Free People UK. I’m still so happy about having this product, and will definitely be trying more products by the brand. The owner, Priscilla, knows a lot about acne prone skin since suffering from problematic skin herself, so I trust the products created by the brand. From reading about the brand on the website, it’s clear that using new products can take 6-8 weeks to get used to. I’ve been using this product for close to 4 weeks now, and my skin already agreed with it from the beginning. It is such a cool innovation, and I write all about it in this post. Obviously.

Cocokind Skincare

As mentioned, the skincare by this brand is created in San Francisco by the founder Priscilla. I love the tagline: Skincare Made in San Francisco by Strong Women, for Strong Women. I love supporting female found businesses, especially natural and cruelty free ones that feel so personal. The brand is also Fair Trade licensed. Each product feels like a new innovation to me as I haven’t seen a turmeric stick available anywhere else, nor have I seen a raspberry vinegar toner. Cocokind also has their own Impact Foundation which provides financial grants between $2,500 to $10,000 to female entrepreneurs in the health, wellness, and sustainability industries who are focused on creating social impact through business. Product Review

This product is so cool. I saw the buzz about it all over Instagram and social media before I went a head and bought it, but with knowing the benefits of turmeric how could I not?! This is how to use the product from the Cocokind website: “Post cleansing, apply our spot treatment to blemishes, breakouts, or areas with uneven pigment for 20 minutes (or longer) before wiping off with damp cotton pad. Use as frequently as desired. Our turmeric stick will not stain your skin, but it will stain clothing / pillow cases!” I can vouch for that, I stained 3 pillowcases and a sleep mask by not reading that before using. Luckily after three washes it has kind of come out.

I am obsessed with the scent of this product. I smells like a mixture of tea-tree essential oil, ginger and obviously turmeric. Since that’s three out of five ingredients included in this product that’s almost obvious. But both tea tree and ginger are two of my favourite scents since they remind me of freshness and detoxing. I wouldn’t have thought of putting them together, but here they have been and I love it.

The texture of this stick I expected to be smooth and a bit oily from the beeswax and sunflower oil. However, as well as having an oily feel this product also feels textured when applied to the skin. This will be from the turmeric and ginger root powders, and it creates such a great combination. I like it having an exfoliating factor because when I wipe it off or remove it, my skin feels like it’s getting an exfoliation. Sometimes I apply my cleanser over the top to them rub it into the skin and wash it off thoroughly. Alternatively you can just rub it into the skin with fingers after apply it from the stick. Well that’s what I do to get the most use out of the stick. On the skin it is, as mentioned, exfoliating. When applied it’s so light you can’t feel it and I’ve forgotten I’m wearing it before and looked strange with yellow parts of my face. It isn’t sticky, just a smooth texture from the oil.

The results I got from this product was mainly reduced acne pigmentation. The turmeric reduces redness of the skin and I feel like my blemish inflammation was reduced too. Results aren’t immediate with natural products, and can take up to 8 weeks to see real results. I’m going to keep using this product regularly to see what happens to my skin. I love using this as part of a routine as not to confuse my skin with loads of new products. I feel like this product helps brighten my acne scars and helps heal open blemishes, as well as exfoliating scarring.

This product is such a cool and new innovation. It is in a large stick, as seen in the image, and can be applied to the skin directly from the stick. This makes it so easy to use, but could seem unhygienic to some people. I apply it as is recommended, after cleansing so the skin is clean. Overall, I love this product as a new and cool innovation that helps with acne skin. However, I do find it a bit messy. I definitely think you should try it for acne scarring and pigmentation, but I feel like my active blemishes get angry when I apply this then wash it off an hour later. I prefer to not touch my skin as much as possible. But I like this product and recommend you try it.

Organic sunflower oil, organic beeswax, organic turmeric, organic ginger root, organic tea tree oil.

5 ingredients, how amazing! This product isn’t vegan due to the beeswax, but I am someone who doesn’t mind using beeswax when it is by an ethical, natural and sustainable company like Cocokind. Find out more about the company here.
