Review: JĀSÖN Super Shine Apricot Shampoo

Apricot Shampoo

“A natural shampoo for damaged and colour treated hair that gently and effectively removes dirt and build-up restoring your hair’s natural shine and bounce.”

I’m currently not committed to any hair care product or brand. When I buy shampoo and conditioner, I want something natural, cruelty free, affordable and that words. You can see the different brands and options I’ve tried in the reviews hair care section of my blog, but I’ve been using Faith in Nature on and off throughout as it’s easy to find and affordable. However, I wouldn’t recommend that brand as it doesn’t work well on my hair. This product by Jason is one I would recommend, keep reading to find out why.

Product Review

I’m officially hooked on Jason as a brand. They’re vegan, cruelty free, natural with no Parabens, SLS, Petrochemicals, Artificial Colours or Phthalates. The brand is also so affordable with this 473ml bottle of shampoo costing £6.99. As a comparison, Herbal Essences sold in Superdrug costs £3.99 for a 400ml bottle of shampoo. That brand contains Sulphates and artificial fragrances. Yes the products perform and smell great, but so do natural brands now. Natural brands like this one perform, smells amazing, don’t strip the hair completely, and don’t irritate the skin. In my opinion this product is worth the extra £3.00 cost.

The scent of this product is exactly what the product says: Apricot. There are also other scents in the range, but I chose this one as it’s describes as Super Shine. This is one of the only natural shampoos I’ve tried that doesn’t have an underlying scent of Hemp or Aloe Vera. This one smells like a fruity citrus explosion. That being said, it isn’t overpowering so it doesn’t gives you a headache. Also, I notice the scent doesn’t stick around after washing like conventional products do. It pretty much goes after conditioning, but I haven’t been using the matching conditioner to this shampoo.

The texture is very similar to conventional product, and I say this because both Faith in Nature and Sukin shampoos are very hard to move through the hair. This one is a runny gel formula and is very easy to move through the hair as it foams when massaged in. I like this as it means I use less product, so the bottle lasts for longer. It is also very easy to wash out of the hair, and doesn’t leave the hair stripped or knotty before conditioning. It leaves the hair feeling clean, but not stripped although conditioner is still needed in my opinion.

It’s very easy to use on the hair, and I can wash my hair very quickly with this product. I would say it’s suitable for all hair types to be honest. The results I get from this product are very clean and fresh hair, which doesn’t have a residue left in it. My hair isn’t stripped after it’s dried as mentioned above, and my hair feels moisturised but not greasy. However, I don’t think this shampoo makes my hair super shiny. I naturally have wavy hair, so after it dries on the first day it is bit frizzy from the wave. After drying and brushing and sleeping on my hair, it then goes shiny. My hair goes a lot smoother after the second day, so I would say this product doesn’t accentuate curly hair but that’s just in my experience.

I love the packaging of this product. The product comes out so easily, but the lid is so secure that it doesn’t leak at all. The plastic is very solid but not slippery it’s easy to hold in the shower. Due to the formula of the shampoo being a thin gel, and the hole on the bottle opening, this product will come out even when there isn’t much left at the bottom. Such a great design. The bottle can also be recycled.

To conclude, I love this product and will continue to test products from the brand. I love how the scent is very fruity and fresh, and how my hair feels clean after using it. It doesn’t irritate my eyes, doesn’t break out my skin, and doesn’t irritate my scalp. This would be great for anyone who is sensitive to chemicals, have a sensitive scalp, or has acne prone skin like me. Highly recommend.
