February Fixer with Green People: Winter Dry Skin Fix

February Fixer with Green People

“With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Green People offers a complete range of certified organic products for all of the family. Every product is packed with over 90% active natural and organic ingredients to protect, nourish, balance and, most importantly, respect your body.”

Green People is a brand that I have tried before and love! It was one of the first brands that I found when I first switched to natural, (I love their toothpaste) so I was so happy when they asked if I wanted to be involved in their February Fixer. The February Fixer is all about fixing skin concerns in the colder months, and my biggest concern: DRY SKIN. My skin gets very dry in the winter months especially on my shins from running in capri leggings, so anything with moisture and hydration is right up my street. But what’s a moisturiser without exfoliation, right?! The products included in this post are Green People’s Nurture Body Lotion and Sugar Scrub; the perfect combination for the body.

About Green People

Green People was created by Charlotte Vøhtz when her daughter Sandra was born in 1994. This was due to the multiple skin allergies that Sandra had. At this time the high street had many products claiming to be natural, but used nothing but synthetic ingredients. “From that moment, I realised that we all are children of the chemical age and that man-made chemicals found everywhere, combined with changing dietary habits, profoundly affect us all”. Charlotte started creating her own organic products, and created Green People in 1997 after years of product research and development. The brand promises to never use aggressive ingredients or synthetic chemicals such as: sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, alcohol (ethanol) or synthetic fragrances or colourants, and to never test on animals.

Nurture Body Lotion

Nutritive body lotion to soothe and deeply hydrate your skin.

“An organic lotion for soft, supple hands and body. Rich in Omega-3&6 essential fatty acids. Rehydrating, moisturising relief for thirsty skin. Enriched with a light natural citrus and floral aroma. Organic Perilla, Evening Primrose, Squalane from Olive, Shea butter & Bergamot.”

I hadn’t used a moisturising lotion in a long time as I’ve mainly been using oils on my body. I’m a coconut oil addict, and if you’ve read this post then you’ll know I made my own two ingredient moisturiser using coconut oil and shea butter. However, I was finding that with cold days, shaving, and a lot of hot baths my skin was getting very dried out, but this DIY moisturiser wasn’t working. My skin was becoming very itchy, and coconut oil, with it’s larger molecular structure than other oils, just wasn’t being fully absorbed into my skin. This Green People Nurture Body Lotion has been my saving grace.

Texture & Scent

The texture of this lotion is very creamy and smooth. This is a thick formula but it isn’t too heavy. It definitely isn’t thin or runny like how I would imagine a lotion to be; it’s the perfect moisture lotion formula. When rubbed onto the skin it stays white for a few seconds before soaking in. I like to lather up and let it soak in when I’m in my pyjamas. I add extra product to the dry areas on my shins where the skin is extremely dry.

The scent is lightly and subtly floral from the flower oils included in the ingredients (see below). It is mostly a rose scent that isn’t synthetic or overly powerful and disruptive. It’s very light and natural, but the scent doesn’t stay around for long; it disappears after a while. This product is made from some of my favourite ingredients including: shea butter and evening primrose.

  • I love this product. My skin felt the softest its felt in ages after using this just once.
  • It stopped the tightness and itchiness of the skin on my legs.
  • It is great for after shaving as it’s light and naturally scented, so doesn’t sting.
  • Is very hydrating on the skin; exactly as described.
  • Rubs in white then soaks quickly into skin.
  • This product is not sticky, irritating, synthetic, or drying.
  • It is moisturising, natural, mostly organic, and made with so much love.
  • The packaging is an easy to use pump that is also hygienic.
  • Formula is thick but isn’t too heavy.

Sugar Scrub

Divinely soft skin can be yours with this luxury organic body scrub.

“Gently exfoliates for touchable, glowing skin all over. Deluxe blend of organic sugar and skin-softening oils. Allows moisturisers to penetrate the skin more effectively. Use with Body Butter as a bedtime treat to transform dry feet and hard-working hands. Free from marine-damaging plastic microbeads. Organic Shea butter, Rosehip, Pomegranate & Coconut.”

I loved this scrub after the first use. I have get very tight and itchy skin on my legs in the winter. As mentioned above, the skin on my shins gets super itchy from running and walking outdoors in capri leggings. It gets worse from shaving too, which I choose to keep to a minimum in the winter. Exfoliation is necessary for ultimate moisturiser absorption, so these two products are the perfect combination. Gone is my flaky dry skin; I feel like a new woman. I also find it essential to exfoliate my armpits too! Apart from my legs and armpits, my skin is very soft and quite sensitive so I don’t like to exfoliate too often, but I sure do love this scrub.

Texture & Scent

As explained in the name of this product, it has the texture of sugar as that’s what it’s made from; raw cane sugar. The sugar is in whole form so the scrub is full abrasive and effective, which is something I love. However, this product is a two in one. It has the sugar for the exfoliation, and a whole host of nourishing oils to moisturise the skin afterwards. The oils stay behind after exfoliating so there isn’t much need to moisturise really, but I still do. I love how this product is mostly made up of sugar. It is packed into the product, so it feels dry when scooped out of the tub as the oils harden slightly. You can feel the oils begin to soften as it is rubbed into the skin.

The scent is amazing, and one of my favourite scents. It is floral from the lavender and rosemary oils, yet has a lightly citrus hint from the lemongrass leaf. It smells like a botanical garden or a natural spa. I’m obsessed.

  • Great for extra dry skin on the legs, and works great on the feet also.
  • Moisturises as well as exfoliates from the oils used to hold the sugar together. I love this about the product, as I haven’t seen this with conventional sugar scrubs.
  • Completely free from micro-beads.
  • So much product included in the jar so it lasts for ages.
  • This product isn’t too harsh, and doesn’t irritate the skin in anyway.
  • Fully vegan and cruelty free product and brand.
  • The packaging is easy to open and hygienic from the extra plastic cap.
  • Great price for the amount of product and ingredients included.
  • Would definitely purchase, and I highly recommend this product.
  • Could be harsh on very sensitive skin as is very abrasive, but this is what I love about the product. It really works.
  • I have been so impressed with these Green People products, so I will be exploring more into the brand and trying more from them in the very near future.
