I have been dying my hair for years and one of my main concerns when switching to all natural products was the amount of toxins that I have exposed my head to in the past. Especially considering that our scalp is one of the fastest absorbing areas of the body. Luckily Naturigin, an organic beauty brand that sells hair dye, reached out to me and asked me to review their product.
Naturigin is a natural and organic hair care brand that sells hair dye and other hair care products, including dry shampoo, hair wash, conditioner etc. The brand is based in Denmark where he products are solely produced whilst complying to all cosmetic legislation. Naturigin believes that authentic and natural beauty demands uncompromising high standards, ethical production and pure ingredients; and I couldn’t agree more.
Not only are the products natural, but all of the products are cruelty free and vegan too which is amazing. The ingredients used are locally sourced wherever possible and the brand is striving to eliminate all excess harmful chemicals from the products. Each product is also created with the environment in mind and the production uses sustainable wind energy and environmentally friendly 100% recyclable FSC materials for all packaging and marketing.
The hair dye is 100% permanent and uses an advanced formula with a special blend of added certified natural lemon peel extract, certified natural orange pee essential oil, and other pure and gentle extracts and natural oils. The brand says that these ingredients protect and add shine to the hair during colouring all whilst providing nourishment to the hair and scalp.
Naturigin offer 19 different shades ranging from Light to Dark.
The colour care hair wash is certified organic by ECOCERT which is great and I will definitely be trying this product in the future. The conditioner also includes certified organic ingredients. Both of these products are created to help maintain the colour result from the dye with highly beneficial essential oils and natural extracts. The brand also offers a range of hair styling products that also include natural and organic ingredients.

*carcinogens: “a substance capable of causing cancer in living tissue.”
**endocrine disruptors: “Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that may interfere with the body’s endocrine system and produce adverse developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immune effects in both humans and wildlife.”
I have always been sceptical to try new brands of hair dye after having a few dying disasters previously but I will say that it is nice to use a dye that has a subtle scent and such visually appealing packaging and branding.
Inside the box there are three different products for three different steps and each are marked either A, B or C for the order of use. The box also includes some instructions and some plastic gloves.
A: Colour Cream – a special lasting formula of gentle extracts.
B: Activator – a special formula to ensure a perfect and lasting result.
C: Colour Lock – to lock the colour.
Part A is emptied into part B and then shaken to create the formula that creates the best colour. Part B in already inside the applicator bottle that has a long end to allow for easy application directly onto the roots. These types of hair dying bottles are the most effective in my opinion and also the most common; so luckily the application of this product is easy and straight forward.
The colour takes 30 minutes to develop and the colour I received is 4.0 Brown. The colour looks to be slightly lighter than what I have coloured my hair with previously which is what I expected. However, the colour is pigmented and blends in with the rest of the hair colour, but unfortunately as the colour fades it may start to look more obvious.
A problem I have had previously when dying my hair dark brown is that as the colour is washed it starts to fade; revealing copper and orange tones that I find unflattering. I cannot say that this product does that as I am experiencing it for the first time, and luckily is does cover over copper tones. Hopefully the step C colour locking formula will help to maintain the colour.
I think when purchasing this product it is important to note that it does not come with a final step conditioner like other at home dying kits. The third step is a colour locking gel and the conditioner can be purchased separately. Luckily the brand do offer a colour protection natural conditioner.
What I love the most about this product is that it is vegan and cruelty free! So if you’re looking for a vegan and cruelty free hair dying alternative then give this one a go!
