Review: Lily Lolo Natural Mascara in Black

This mascara is by the brand Lily Lolo and I purchased it through the website Naturisimo. The website holds a plethora of natural make-up and beauty products and is my idea of online shopping heaven. To purchase this item, click here.

Mascara was one of the first natural make-up items that I decided to buy when I started transitioning. This is because I started to notice how much my eyes would sting during the day whilst wearing conventional mascara. I had heard so many good things being said about this Lily Lolo product so I decided to take the plunge and buy it. It is one of the lowest price natural mascara that I have found and costs £12.50 on Naturisimo. When natural and cruelty free brands are costing the same price as drug store brands, it makes sense to make the switch to healthier products.

I have been using this product for a few weeks now and there isn’t too much to report on a mascara as it is only used on the eyelashes, but I will start by talking about the formula. The formula and consistency of this product is very lightweight. It definitely leaves a natural finish on the eyes and as someone who likes a thicker lash, I do find it a bit annoying. Especially when trying to get the finish that I like. This is because layering this product is difficult as it doesn’t always stick to my lashes. It also gets clumpy in awkward areas then doesn’t move. However, if you are someone who likes natural finish then this will be great for you.

When describing this product, I don’t know whether to say it volumises or lengthens the eyelashes because I didn’t specifically find it did either. It definitely gives a natural finish as mentioned above. Luckily this product isn’t flaky and does stay on the eye lashes all day. It is also super easy to wash off and just melts away so easily with a cleanser and cloth. I don’t need to tug and pull at my lashes to remove it, or use any additional oil or make-up remover. That is a huge bonus for me!

My first impressions of the packaging for this product was that I loved the box and sleek colour scheme and design that the brand chose. However, the plastic and the wand do feel quite cheap. This is to be expected with a product that is cost effective and natural as consumers are paying for the good ingredients and the packaging doesn’t really matter.

I will need to use this product a few more times before I can make the decision on whether I would repurchase or not. I do feel like I would prefer to try other brands to compare natural brands against each other. But if you are looking for an affordable natural mascara then I would say give this one a go and see if it works for you and let me know!

So to recap:

  • Cruelty free and natural product.
  • Leaves a very natural finish.
  • Is hard to layer.
  • Is not flaky.
  • Doesn’t irritate the eyes.
  • Lightweight to wear.
  • Affordable price range.
  • Washes off very easily.
  • Nice branding and packaging design.
  • Probably wouldn’t repurchase as I prefer a thicker finish.

Thanks for this article. I think I’ll check this mascara out. I also love the way you paired it with the rose quartz crystals. Very beautiful.
