Review: Andalou Naturals Meyer Lemon Creamy Cleanser

This is the first product that I have used from Andalou Naturals and when I bought it I hadn’t realised that the product contains Manuka Honey. The honey means that this product is not vegan and therefore, I won’t be repurchasing it. I thought that I would write a review on it anyway as the brand is cruelty free and this is a cleaner cleanser option than other conventional beauty products.

I was first drawn to this product because I had heard about the brand previously. Andalou naturals is a natural alternative to conventional beauty brands and is sold in most health food stores. I really love the packaging of this product and the way the brand incorporates the orange and yellow colours on the box to match the ingredients; lemon and turmeric. The bottle itself has an easy to use pump that doesn’t leak and is also hygienic and very easy to use. I much prefer the pump bottle to the ones you have to squeeze.

The scent of the product is also something I really like. It is mild, pleasant, has a hint of a citrus smell and is not artificial at all. My skin hasn’t had any bad reactions to this product either which is great as my skin can sometimes be sensitive.

The bottle says that this is a creamy cleanser but I would describe it more as a gel texture. However, it is still creamy; kind of a gel and cream hybrid. My favourite kinds f cleansers are cream cleansers but I still prefer a gel over a foam. It just depends on your preference. If you prefer cream, I recommend you try to Sukin cream cleanser linked here.

This cleanser removes my make-up really easily and I feel like it removes everything the first time but I do still prefer to cleanse twice. This is because then I get all of my eye make-up off too. I find that this cleanser is slightly stripping on my skin which is a down fall to the product. It definitely isn’t as stripping as conventional cleansers, but I just don’t find it very moisturising. I also don’t feel like it brightens my skin like it says on the bottle. The lemon, turmeric, and Manuka honey are said to brighten the skin but unfortunately this didn’t happen for my skin.

Luckily, I didn’t buy this cleanser and expect it to brighten my skin. I just like my cleanser to remove all my make-up which this product definitely does do which is great. If you have very sensitive skin just bare in mind that this product may strip your skin slightly. That being said, it doesn’t make my skin feel tight or uncomfortable at all.

So to Recap:

  • Contains honey so is not a vegan product.
  • Affordable and easy to find product; available in most health food stores.
  • Nice and appealing packing.
  • Is cruelty free and vegetarian.
  • Easy to use bottle that is also hygienic.
  • Subtle and mild citrus scent.
  • Removes make-up easily.
  • Slightly stripping on the skin but doesn’t dry out or make the skin feel tight.
  • Not as stripping as conventional beauty products.
  • Doesn’t brighten the skin but that doesn’t bother me.
  • I will try other products from the brand.

If you have used this product then let me know what you think because I have heard so many good things about this product. I will definitely be trying other products from this brand too.
