Is it too early to talk about SS 17 trends?

It’s no secret that fashion works in advance and sometimes to the extremes of three years. So even though we are only just scraping the edges of Spring 2016, designers are blunting their pencils ready for the snowfall of 2017. Here we are, trying to adsorb as much vitamin D from the British sun as possible before it fades behind a hazy grey cloud again; all whilst our newly DIY’s denim jackets are already going out of style.

So whilst you’re sat browsing the online bible of ASOS and contemplating what you can invest in for your Summer wardrobe that won’t be unwearable in a flash, I’m here to tell you the trends that Buyer’s are predicting will carry over into S/S 17. So you don’t have to worry about throwing away money on an item that’s just destined for H&M’s clothing recycle bins.

Sunset hues are to be key colour palette for 2017 so expect plenty of peach, amber, bold yellow, blush beige, ceramic blue, and bubble gum pink. Dark denim will also make an appearance alongside frosted metal, woven leather, tassel and edgeland florals.

“Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.”

Now let’s talks about F A S H I O N

Oversized Trench – This is mildly predictable as trench coats are a staple with the Burberry trench being the classic investment amongst the blogging world. Also known as the Duster coat, the oversized trench is calf-length and sure to make you feel like Doctor Who or a Detective, especially on a breezy day.

Souvenir Jacket – I would say Topshop stole the spotlight this season (S/S 16) with their souvenir jacket or commonly referred to as the embroidered bomber. The Asian/Japanese style jacket trend has snowballed all thanks to Gucci.

Crisp Shirt Dress – Another wardrobe staple so it’s no surprise this piece will be around season after season.

Baggy Jeans – Mom style, boyfriend style, high waisted, low waisted, these jeans have been all over the blogs recently. High waisted mom jeans are comfortable yet stylish and come in a range of denim washes. I’m really loving denim mix patch work jeans.

Ruffle Blouse – The feminine Miu Miu ruffle blouse was a popular choice for guests this previous fashion week across New York, Paris and Milan. It gives a girly touch to any outfit and is a stylish way to stay cool during warmer months.

Micro-Flare Trousers – Turns out you don’t have to worry about flare trousers coming in and going straight back out of style. It is predicted that they will still be around next year too.

Classic Shirt – Another wardrobe staple.

Frayed Denim – Frayed hems on skirts and the hem of jeans are a way to add an edgy look to simple denim. You can even fray the edge of your old pieces yourself.

Boyfriend Trucker – The oversized denim or corduroy jacket seems hard to find. The womenswear jackets are all too small and whilst thrifting, it seems all the good steals have been snatched up. So if you happen to find the perfect fit, don’t let it out your sight before you’re leaving the store with a receipt in hand.
